Nothing Can Stop This Plus-Sized Girl From Wearing A Bikini
People will always have an opinion on what you should or shouldn’t wear. Especially now with social media, where people can be rude to you or make comments when you post an OOTD.
Watch how Sara Petty, a 219-pound girl who felt that it was time to empower other women instead of dragging them down with negative opinions. Sara gathered some tweets from random people saying how 200-pound girls should dress up. She then posted four photos as her direct argument to these people with confused opinions.
“It was kind of scary because I knew I could possibly subject myself to a lot more body shaming and hate, but I knew there had to be some empowerment in being vulnerable and proving to myself that no one else’s opinion of my weight matters,” Sara told style.mic.
“There is such a stigma around 200 pounds, unfortunately, as if it is some magic number that dictates when a woman can or can’t be attractive,’ she added.
Sara’s post has so far gained 66,000 retweets and 77,000 favorites which she says has helped her cope with her situation.
“The post helped me become a little bit more OK with seeing that number on the scale, and I hoped that it would help other girls, too. I hope that my post moved us just one step closer to being a society where girls can wear what they please without being afraid of ridicule,” she said.
